On October 30, 2018, beginning at 6 p.m., Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee will celebrate two decades of free cancer support in Nashville and surrounding areas with a 20th Anniversary Bash at the Omni Nashville Hotel.

With more than 400 business, civic and community leaders expected to attend, Gilda’s Club’s biggest fundraiser to date will feature a three-course plated dinner; special guests, including Gilda’s Club Worldwide Founder Joanna Bull; a look back at 20 years of Gilda’s Club in Middle Tennessee, along with a peek at what’s next for the growing organization; and, perhaps most importantly, the celebration of three community leaders for their giving hearts and extraordinary community impact.

Honorees will include:

Holly Hearn Whaley, President & CEO, Nashville Wine Auction, who will be presented the inaugural Red Door Champion Award;

The Sprintz Family and Sprintz Furniture, who will be honored with the inaugural Dr. Gail Addlestone Community Building Award; and

Felice Apolinsky, LCSW, Program Director since 1998, Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee, who will be recognized with The Nancy Saturn Award of Inspiration.

“For 20 years, Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee has existed to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone – and it’s grown and served our Greater Nashville community in remarkable ways year after year,” said Sandy Obodzinski, president and CEO of the local non-profit. “We are thrilled to be celebrating this milestone and look forward to marking it with a special event that not only honors our past, but also shines the spotlight on three people who have helped Gilda’s Club achieve such success.”

According to Anthony Barton of CMT, board member and co-chair of the Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee 20th Anniversary Bash, selecting the evening’s honorees was a moving process.

“Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee has been fortunate to have a number of extraordinary people working on its behalf from the very beginning, including its Founding CEO Sandy Towers, whose determination to serve those facing cancer put us on the path to this anniversary event,” he said. “When our selection committee sat down, there were just so many compelling stories…stories of commitment, generosity, and love. Our honorees for the October 30 event embody these characteristics completely.”

Asked what guests can expect at the Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee 20th Anniversary Bash, event Co-Chair Keri McInnis of Pinnacle Financial Partners said: “Guests can look forward to a cocktail hour, followed by a three-course meal with a silent auction – all presented in a thoughtfully and powerfully designed event space. Perhaps most importantly though, they’ll get an intimate look at some of the lives being made better through the support of Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee. It’s certain to be an inspiring and memorable evening.

“Nashville is fortunate to have had an organization like Gilda’s Club for the past 20 years. I’m honored to be part of recognizing and celebrating the great work they do,” McInnis added.

Iconic wine movie’s Nashville-area premiere is Nov. 7 at Franklin Theatre

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – October 5, 2018 – The Nashville Wine Auction is proud to partner with Forgotten Man Films and SOMM star Dustin Wilson, MS (Master Sommelier), in bringing the premiere of SOMM 3 to the Nashville area at the Franklin Theatre.

SOMM 3 continues the fascinating look into the world of wine which started in the iconic 2013 film SOMM. It also explores the industry’s celebrated professionals …the sommeliers. Nashville is one of only three cities with which Wilson is working to host this movie premiere, another indication of the national recognition of the flourishing Nashville wine and food scene (the other two cities are New York City and San Francisco). Proceeds from ticket sales of this event benefit the Nashville Wine Auction, which raises money throughout the year for local cancer-fighting organizations by hosting wine-centered fundraising events.

“I’m thrilled that Nashville was selected by Dustin Wilson as one of only three cities to host this type of premiere event for SOMM 3,” said Holly Whaley, President/CEO of the Nashville Wine Auction. “The Nashville Wine Auction is the perfect organization to present this event to our wine community. It will be a great night for wine lovers!”

“I’m so excited to share the SOMM 3 film with the wine-loving folks in Nashville in November!” said Dustin Wilson, MS. “It’s a huge honor for me to be there, share some wine, and raise a glass with such an amazing food and wine community. I can’t wait!”

Three sommeliers featured in SOMM 3 will attend the movie premiere: Dustin Wilson, MS (who is in all three SOMM movies), Michael Engelmann, MS, and Sabato Sagaria, MS. Also attending the Nashville-area premiere is the movie’s producer, Jackson Myers.

The co-chairs of this unique event are Tiffany King, Timothy Kirch, Chris Otillio and Shane Bailey.  All four co-chairs are alumni of the Nashville Young Leaders Council (NYLC) and have served on the Nashville Wine Auction Board.

Franklin Theatre doors will open at 6:45 pm on Nov. 7, and the movie will begin at 7:30 pm. There are three ticket package experiences from which to choose.

Naturally, wine will be served at the reception and during the movie.

Nashville Wine Auction offers three ways to enjoy this exciting occasion:

General Admission Ticket (Reserved seating) for $25/person

SOMM 3 Nashville-area movie premier is sponsored by The Clough Team of Keller Williams Realty.

ABOUT SOMM 3:  The world of wine hasn’t always been the way it is today. In 1976, Steven Spurrier held the Judgment of Paris, a blind tasting where American wines beat out the classic French wines and put wine on a global platform. Wine critics like Jancis Robinson, one of the most prolific wine writers, started to influence what wine people drank. And then there’s Fred Dame, father of the restaurant wine list and the man that made the sommelier profession what it is today. In SOMM 3, these three legends of the industry sit down in Paris to taste the rarest bottles of their careers. Meanwhile, Dustin Wilson gathers the greatest blind tasters of today in New York City for a secret tasting similar to the original Judgment of Paris, with the goal to see if any of the world’s Pinot Noirs can stand up to the greatest Burgundies of France. In the end, both tastings cross with results that could change the world of wine forever.

SOMM 3 is the third film in the SOMM series and follows the influential films SOMM and its sequel SOMM: Into the Bottle.  Like the previous two films, SOMM 3 has unprecedented access to the highest levels of the wine world.

About the Artist – Kevin Curran

Charleston artist Kevin Curran has graciously donated the use of his painting “Rainbow Row Reflections” for the promotion of Pairings this year where we will pair up Nashville chefs with Charleston chefs on Saturday night.

Kevin Curran has always been an artist, and his family has a rich history in art. All of his grandparents had artistic abilities, his maternal grandparents even met while attending the same art school, and his mother Carol Ann Curran is a well known professional artist. Given these surroundings Kevin was able to have plenty of fun playing with countless art media from the time he could hold a pencil in his hands.

During his high school years, Curran found serious interest in  art which led him straight to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. During his college career, he was one of the few chosen out of several hundred applicants to show a piece at the NYC Art Directors Club, which was also featured in Print Magazine.

After graduating with a bachelor degree of fine arts, Curran moved to Charleston, SC. He then went into the printing field where he became an art director. During the next seven years, he won several design competitions for graphic design and illustration, while he continued with commissioned fine art paintings on the side. With demand for his work growing, Curran opened Curran’s Beach House Gallery on the Isle of Palms, in December 2000. This location was a great inspiration for his piece titled “Essence Of The Island”, which won the competition to be the official poster of the Isle Of Palms, commemorating their 50th anniversary.

Kevin then moved what became The Curran Gallery to Downtown Charleston. Shortly after the move Kevin won the purchase award for his painting commemorating the Historic Coast Guard MSO Building, which is available in prints. He was also chosen by the Historic Charleston Foundation to paint the portrait of Hannah Axelman, who was the first woman lawyer in Charleston County. This portrait displays in the library of the Charleston County Courthouse. Curran Gallery closed it’s downtown location in 2010, and Kevin and Carol Ann’s work is now available online at www.CurranGallery.com

Kevin resides in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina with his lovely wife and two little boys.

Growing up in southeast Washington, DC, Carlton McCoy’s upbringing was an unlikely springboard for his meteoric rise in the wine industry. Named a Master Sommelier in 2013 at just 28 years old, Carlton was one of the youngest people and the second African American to earn this prestigious title. At home, Carlton’s family preferred beer or whiskey and he had little exposure to wine. But food was another story: Carlton spent years at his grandmother’s side in the family’s catering business, learning kitchen basics, prepping vegetables and eventually cooking as well. “My grandma was an amazing cook,” he says, “and she was by far the leading influence behind my career in the restaurant business.”

Motivated to build on his interest in the culinary arts, in high school Carlton enrolled in a class sponsored by the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program, or C-CAP. In 2002, he won a C-CAP citywide cooking contest and earned a full scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. At the CIA, something new stood out for him: “The wine class with Steven Kolpan was a revelation to me,” he explains. “It opened my eyes to a completely new world. I went to all the tutoring sessions to learn as much as I could about wine.”

After graduation in 2006, Carlton honed his skills in revered institutions including Thomas Keller’s Per Se, Marcus Samuelsson’s Aquavit, Tom Colicchio’s Craft Steak in New York and Eric Zeibold’s CityZen at The Mandarin Oriental in Washington, DC. It was at CityZen that he got serious about wine and began studying for the Court of Master Sommeliers certifications, guided by Andy Myers MS. “He’s the person in this industry who changed my life,” Carlton states. “He was the first person to take me under his wing and tell me that I may have a future in this.”

In 2011, Carlton joined the team at The Little Nell in Aspen, CO, inspired by the hotel’s award winning wine program and reputation at a training ground for Master Sommeliers. After earning the MS title in 2013, he was promoted to Wine Director, overseeing a staff of 150 and The Little Nell’s acclaimed 20,000-bottle wine cellar.

Carlton became President and CEO of Heitz Cellar in December 2018. To Carlton, Heitz Cellar represents a very particular style of Napa wines: ones that speak to an earlier era in California winemaking. His vision will highlight the winery’s consistent focus on remaining true to its elegant, pure style. “There has to be reverence when it comes to these older brands that create the greatest wines in the country,” he states. “It is fortunate that the Heitz family believed in that style and didn’t change it over the years. It makes the wines the unique experience that they are.”

As a Master Sommelier, Carlton is well versed in the fine wines of the world and is also keenly attuned to recognizing the icons closer to home. “As Americans, we have to look at wines like Heitz as national treasures,” he says. “We go all over the world looking for other wines when we have this incredible legacy right here at home. It’s a great honor to be steward of such an iconic, historical brand.”

Adventurous and athletic, Carlton enjoys traveling the world in search of great wine and spirits and pursuing physically challenging outdoor activities including biking and running marathons.

HEITZ CELLAR

Founded in 1961, Heitz Cellar is a true Napa Valley legend that helped shape the story of California winemaking. Pioneering vintner Joe Heitz ushered in Napa’s modern era with his iconic, globally celebrated wines, including Napa Valley’s first vineyard-designated wine, the renowned Heitz Cellar Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, first made in 1966.

Heitz proudly crafts an illustrious wine portfolio of prestigious Napa Valley varietals, including four Cabernet Sauvignons, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel. The winery also creates both a red wine and a Rosé made from Grignolino, a charming Italian variety rarely found in the US., and a Port made from Portuguese grape varieties. For nearly 60 years, Heitz Cellar has been synonymous with the very best of Napa Valley.

François Servin Winemaker and Owner Domaine Marcel Servin

François Servin, born in 1962 studied at Beaune (Côte d’Or), in 1978-1980, and obtained his Diploma as an Agricultural Technician. He then left for 2 years in Montpellier (South of France), to prepare for the Superior Agricultural Technician – Option Viticulture-oenology.

François Servin’s family can be traced back to the very first marriage records in Chablis in 1654, but their roots stretch even further. In 1537 the Monks of the Abbey of Pontigny established a list of the owners of vines in Chablis and the Servin’s name is inscribed there. This uninterrupted succession of generations of passionate winemakers has created an important legacy of old vines and a profound understanding of terroir.

The consistent high quality of the Servin wines soon made their way to the best tables in Paris with Le Taillevent, Prunier and La Tour d’Argent being their first clients. The first major export partner was Alexis Lichine (American of Russian origin – Château Prieuré Lichine in Margaux), who will open the doors to the US market. The Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York will be Marcel Servin’s first overseas customer, with a Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre 1943 on its prestigious wine list.

Since 1998, the bright, dynamic, François Servin, has managed the Domaine Servin estate and is a fervent advocate for the ageing capacity of Chablis, “I remember tasting legendary vintages, such as 1959, 1947 and 1929, with my parents and grandparents. These wines were spectacular. It surprises me when I hear people say that white wines can’t age. I have the proof in my cellar that they can. I want my wines to be “real” Burgundy wines like the ones of my forefathers”.

These older vintages guide him in his winemaking, which he says is a delicate mix of modern-day technology and a respect for his family’s heritage. Servin strives to achieve a true reflection of the typicity of each parcel.  More than half of his vines (average 40 years old) are non-cloned, using a variety of rootstocks. Soils are tilled and organic fertilisers used sparingly.

François Servin took his personal vines from the family domaine, Domaine Servin, to create Domaine Marcel Servin. The name, Marcel Servin is in respect for his father, grandfather and great grandfather who were all named Marcel. François strives to achieve a true reflection of the typicity of each parcel.

Servin’s knowledge of older vintages has convinced him that later bottlings and malolactic fermentations increase the ageing capacity of his wines. Oak is used cautiously in order to add weight, rather than flavour. As a result, Bougros and Les Clos are aged in barrel, Les Preuses, a blend of barrel and tank and Blanchots is entirely vinified in tank.

Nashville Wine Auction event theme was ‘Taste the History, Savor the Wine, Find the Cure”

NASHVILLE, TENN. – August 7, 2019– The Nashville Wine Auction held the 40th Annual l’Eté du Vin with a series of three main fundraising events from July 20-27 and raised $1.1 Million to help fund the fight against cancer. These events included: a black-tie Patrons’ Dinner; the Vintners’ Tasting and the Grand Auction known as l’Eté du Vin.

This glamorous and convivial series of events featured guests of honor Carlton McCoy, MS, President and CEO of Heitz Cellar from Napa Valley, and François Servin, Winemaker and Owner, Domaine Marcel Servin of Chablis, France.

“We are grateful to our donors, bidders, special guests and volunteers whose generous contributions made raising this year’s total $1.1million possible,” said Nashville Wine Auction CEO Holly Whaley. “We always say, ‘You may come for the wine, but you stay for the cause.’ Some of the attendees at l’Eté du Vin this year have stayed with us — and the cause — for almost four decades. This says so much about the quality of the event, the generosity of these people, and Nashville’s ever-growing interest in excellent wine experiences. We are fortunate to have such loyalty behind our nonprofit.”

Some of the biggest auction items bringing in the funds this year included:

> Rhône Trip brought in the most money because it sold for $30k three times

> Taylor Open Cellar was the biggest lot at $40,500 (54 people)

> Belmond Luxury Barge Cruise through Champagne sold to a group of ladies for $38K

> Dinner with Scarecrow: A No-Brainer sold for $36K

Details about all the auction items can be found in the Auction Catalog online here:    https://nashvillewineauction.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/FULL-LEDV-2019-Catalog.pdf

The theme for this year’s event was “Taste the History, Savor the Wine, Find the Cure” in recognition of the milestone anniversary of the non-profit organization – as well as the heritage of the iconic wines from the guest winemakers.

“As a resident of Nashville, we were honored to bring our wine here for such an amazing cause,” said Gaylon Lawrence, owner of Heitz Cellar. “We thank the Nashville Wine Auction for featuring Heitz Cellar and we’re delighted to play a role in helping raise more than one million dollars to fight against cancer.”

The 40th anniversary year officially launched in June with a first-ever l’Eté du Vin Impact Party, which took place at OZ Arts Nashville. This special occasion’s guest list included 200 significant supporters of the non-profit organization. Past event chairs, generous wine donors, enthusiastic bidders, and former staff and volunteers gathered with current Nashville Wine Auction leaders to celebrate the many years of positive impact made on our community. Robert Lipman presented Ann Eaden with the Norman M. Lipman Award in honor of Ann and her late husband, Glenn Eaden. The Eadens have been fixtures of the Nashville Wine Auction events since its inception. Glenn Eaden passed away in December 2018.

The Patrons’ Dinner was held on July 20 and was a black-tie affair held at the elegant Hermitage Hotel providing the ideal setting for a gourmet dinner featuring some of the best wines in the world donated by collectors from across the country. Chef Jose Gutierrez of Memphis prepared the feast in collaboration with Executive Chef Derek Brooks of The Hermitage Hotel. The Patron’s Dinner was chaired by Loren Chumley and Jim Lewis.

The Vintners’ Tasting was held on July 26. This year’s event moved to the Hutton Hotel to accommodate the ever-growing demand from local wine enthusiasts. The event included a seated structured tasting of wines from Domaine Marcel Servin and Heitz Cellar as well as the opportunity to hear stories and ask questions of the guest winemakers, moderated by Sabato Sagaria, MS. The Vintners’ Tasting was chaired by Keri McInnis and Tara Mullaney.

Vintners’ Tasting featured guests pictured above: Carlton McCoy, Jr. MS, Sabato Sagaria, MS and Winemaker François Servin

The 40th anniversary event culminated on July 27 with l’Eté du Vin, the country’s longest-running charity wine auction, at the JW Marriott. The venerable evening was overseen by The Grand Auction Committee, and Fritz Hatton of Zachys returned as auctioneer for the seventh year in a row.

INFO ABOUT NOTED GUESTS

Carlton McCoy, Jr. MS, President & CEO, Heitz Cellar – Napa Valley
Carlton McCoy, Master Sommelier, became President and CEO of Heitz Cellar in December 2018. To Carlton, Heitz Cellar represents a very particular style of Napa wines: ones that speak to an earlier era in California winemaking. His vision will highlight the winery’s consistent focus on remaining true to its elegant, pure style.  “There has to be reverence when it comes to these older brands that create the greatest wines in the country,” said McCoy. “It is fortunate that the Heitz family believed in that style and didn’t change it over the years. It makes the wines the unique experience that they are.”

About Heitz Cellar
Founded in 1961, Heitz Cellar is a true Napa Valley legend that has helped shape the story of California winemaking.

Heitz Cellar’s vineyards lie within six of Napa Valley’s 16 appellations; a diverse palette that conveys the breadth of geography and climate that makes the Napa Valley one of the world’s finest winegrowing destinations.

Made with an unwavering commitment to quality from organically farmed, 100% Napa Valley fruit, Heitz celebrates both its winemaking and farming with a commitment to the stewardship of Napa Valley.

François Servin, Winemaker, Domaine Marcel Servin – Chablis, France
François Servin has managed Domaine Servin since 1988 utilizing a delicate mix of modern-day technology and a respect for his family’s heritage.

François Servin took his personal vines from the family Domaine (or domain) to create Domaine Marcel Servin. The name, Marcel Servin is in respect for his father, grandfather and great grandfather who were all named Marcel.

His family can be traced back to the very first marriage records in Chablis in 1654, but their roots stretch even further. In 1537, the Monks of the Abbey of Pontigny established a list of the owners of vines in Chablis and the Servin’s name is inscribed there.

The first major export partner was Alexis Lichine (American of Russian origin – Château Prieuré Lichine in Margaux) who opened doors to the U.S. market. The Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York was the first overseas customer, with a Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre 1943 on its prestigious wine list.

Servin is a fervent advocate for the aging capacity of Chablis,

“I remember tasting legendary vintages, such as 1959, 1947 and 1929, with my parents and grandparents,” said Servin. “These wines were spectacular. It surprises me when I hear people say that white wines can’t age. I have the proof in my cellar that they can. I want my wines to be ‘real’ Burgundy wines like the ones of my forefathers”.

NASHVILLE WINE AUCTION TO HOST PAIRINGS WITH OUR FAVORITE CHEFS
FEB. 27-29, 2020

Pairings: Nashville’s Ultimate Wine and Food Weekend  To Spotlight Nashville Chefs While Uniting the Wine Community to Fund Fight Against Cancer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – January 2020Pairings: Nashville’s Ultimate Wine and Food Weekend will feature some of the Nashville Wine Auction’s most supportive chefs who have worked hard to support the organization’s mission to unite the wine community to fund the fight against cancer. This year’s popular three-day celebration of exceptional wine and food will be called “Pairings with Our Favorite Chefs” and will take place Feb. 27-29, 2020.

The events begin on Thursday, Feb. 27, with 11 Private Vintner Dinners, which are held in fine restaurants and private homes throughout Nashville. The next two events are Wined Up! on Friday and Pairings on Saturday, both of which are held at City Winery, located at 609 Lafayette Street in Nashville.

The highlight of the weekend comes on Saturday with a 6-course gourmet meal where these talented and generous Chefs will create pairings for very special wines. Chef Matt Bolus of 404 Kitchen will emcee the evening bringing chefs and vintners to the stage to present the pairings.

“We are honoring these Chefs for all they have done for the Nashville Wine Auction,” said Holly Whaley, President/CEO. “Because they sacrifice their time and provide amazing meals to enjoy with the wines donated by so many wineries, our beneficiaries receive much needed funds to serve our community. They are real heroes.”

The Nashville Wine Auction is the country’s longest-running charity wine auction and has raised more than $26 million dollars over the years to support local cancer-fighting nonprofit organizations.

The Pairings Weekend has something for everyone. Explorers enjoy the casual atmosphere of Wined Up! where they taste their choice of wines and learn from the guest vintners. Enthusiasts form friendships with the vintners and enjoy visiting them in their wineries in Napa, Sonoma, Central Coast, Oregon, and Washington. The Collectors’ Showcase on Friday night offers additional wines aimed to appeal to the experts.

“Pairings is always one of my favorite Nashville Wine Auction events of the year,” said event Co-Chair Gary Rzucidlo, Executive Director of J.P. Morgan. “ In one weekend, we combine Private Vintner Dinners with some of Nashville’s finest chefs, then a Napa wine-tasting experience delivered in our backyard with up to 30 wineries visiting and showcasing their wine.  The weekend is capped off by generous patrons’ raising their paddles in the fight against cancer.”

Alessia Antinori

Alessia Antinori is the youngest daughter of Piero Antinori and serves today as Vice President of Marchesi Antinori. Like her two sisters, Alessia was raised in the family’s 15th century Palazzo Antinori in the center of Renaissance Florence. She participated in all harvests at the family’s Tignanello estate in Chianti Classico and Guado al Tasso in Bolgheri from 1996 and was educated in Florence.

All three Antinori sisters specialize in different aspects of the business, but each understands that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. As the 26th generation, they possess the passion, perseverance and patience that have made the Antinori name synonymous with the finest wines in Italy and the world.

Alessia was naturally drawn to winemaking and graduated with a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the Department Food Science and Technology at the Agrarian University of Milan in January 1998.  She has worked as a winemaker for the company and has been the driving force behind their sparkling wine brand, Montenisa, in Franciacorta.

In order to better understand all aspects of the fine wine business, Alessia also learned the export and sales side, spending about four months each year in India and Asia as the Antinori Family Ambassador. Alessia moved to New York City in January 2009 for several years, where she traveled extensively to participate in tasting events, winemaker dinners and working with Antinori’s sales team.

As Vice President of Marchesi Antinori, Alessia represents the family on the board of Primum Familiae Vini (PFV), an international group of some of the world’s finest and oldest wine producing families dedicated to defend and promote the traditions and values of family-owned companies and ensure that such ideals survive and prosper for future generations.Among her latest projects, Alessia is leading the redevelopment of Fattoria di Fiorano, an organic farm and winery outside Rome.

With an avid interest in fine art and photography, Alessia personally oversaw the creation of the museum area and contemporary art installations at the Antinori Chianti Classico winery and also supervises the Antinori Art Project, dedicated to all the company’s new projects with a contemporary art focus.

She is currently the President of the Friends (patrons) of MAXXI (the National Italian Museum of Contemporary Art) in Rome and has been a member of the International Council group of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York for the past fifteen years.

Dear Friends,

Just a few weeks ago Nashville Wine Auction held the most exciting Pairings event to date.

Our success was largely due to the hard work and generosity of our local chefs, restaurants and participating wineries.

We applauded our partner chefs for always saying “YES” when we call and ask them to give.  Now, some of these chefs have reached out asking us to spread the word on how our community can help them in return.

Nashville Wine Auction community, we love wine. We love food. We are generous. We are community minded. Let’s act quickly and do what we can to support our friends.

Below is a list of the chefs and restaurants that most recently partnered with us at Pairings.

There are many others who are being impacted including all the wineries across California, Oregon, Washington and abroad.

Our mission is about fighting cancer. We couldn’t fulfill this mission without the generous support of the Hospitality Industry. Let’s unite to support our friends in this time of need.

l’Eté du Vin Canceled; Music City Harvest Party set for October 9, 2020

To the Nashville Wine Auction community,

After careful consideration during the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Nashville Wine Auction Board of Directors has concluded it is best to cancel l’Eté du Vin this year. Many factors were considered in this time of great uncertainty, including: the health and wellbeing of our community, nation, and world; the hardships within the wine, travel, and hospitality industries; our sponsors’, bidders’, and donors’ economic situation this year; and the position of so many Nashville nonprofit organizations.  Because these partners and friends are so important to Nashville Wine Auction, and their contributions are so vital to the success of l’Eté du Vin, we have decided to wait for better times to hold our auction and the many events that surround it.

We are making this business decision so that our organization will remain strong and able to bring you the 41st Annual l’Eté du Vin on Saturday, July 24, 2021, with special Guest of Honor Alessia Antinori. Together, we will make that event an excellent, celebratory experience and highly successful fundraising event.

At this time, we are moving ahead with plans for the inaugural Music City Harvest Party slated for later in the year for Friday, October 9, 2020, at Green Door Gourmet.  This casual outdoor event will be a very special time for our community of wine lovers to gather and celebrate the harvest and our friendships.

A challenging outcome of this decision is our Beneficiaries will be negatively impacted by this necessary cancellation, and it is with that in mind that we ask for your help now.  If you normally attend l’Eté du Vin, would you consider making a donation directly to any or all of these worthy cancer organizations?  Can you imagine what it must be like to be going through cancer treatments in the midst of the corona virus?   There are many in our community that still need your help.  You can help ease their experience by clicking through to our Beneficiaries below to make a donation today, or you may make a cash donation to Nashville Wine Auction that will be shared with all our Beneficiary partners.

Thank you for all you have done over the years to support the Nashville Wine Auction and our very worthy Beneficiaries.

Stay safe and we’ll be together again soon,

Please utilize any section in the donation screen which will allow you to designate Nashville Wine Auction so our partners will know how much we in the wine community care.

Wine Collectors, Enthusiasts and Explorers Unite the Wine Community to Fund Fight Against Cancer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – June 11, 2020The Nashville Wine Auction is planning to host its first-ever Music City Harvest Party on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020. This is a brand new event for the long-time, Nashville-based nonprofit, and hopes are high for a successful fundraising celebration this fall after the cancellation of this summer’s l’Eté du Vin, the charity’s most iconic and impactful fundraiser of the year.

The Music City Harvest Party will take place at Green Door Gourmet’s outdoor event space. There will be six-to-eight featured wineries, a one-hour auction of wine-themed luxury items, southern food from the nationally recognized Arnold’s Country Kitchen, and live music from Tootsie’s famed Jake Maurer and band.

“This has been a tough year for many nonprofits like ours and for our many hospitality industry partners,” said Holly Whaley, President/CEO, “and we look forward to putting those tough times behind us. We had to cancel l’Eté du Vin this summer, but we still have important projects to fund with each of our beneficiaries. Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t go away because of a pandemic or economic challenges. So, we are moving forward with this new annual fall fundraiser where we celebrate the harvest with friends, music, food … and wine, of course!”

The Nashville Wine Auction is the country’s longest-running charity wine auction and has raised more than $26 million dollars over the years to support local cancer-related nonprofit organizations.

“It’s an honor to co-chair the first Music City Harvest Party,” said event Co-Chair Lisa Maki. “We look forward to bringing together so many generous wine lovers to help raise money for these worthy organizations. We are also eager to be together to celebrate good things in the months ahead!

“I love that it’s going to be a casual, outdoor event with lots of space,” said event Co-Chair Amy Atkinson. “This event will add a special Nashville feel from that of traditional harvest parties. There will be live country music on a Nashville organic farm with food from Arnold’s Country Kitchen and some of our favorite wines. We all want to toast to good friends and better days, support important cancer-related charities, and this is the perfect opportunity to do so.”

Inaugural Music City Harvest Party Postponed

The Nashville Wine Auction is cancelling its planned, in-person fall fundraising event, the Music City Harvest Party, amid concerns surrounding the safety of conducting a large-scale event during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“We waited to cancel this highly anticipated first-time event because it was going to take place outside, giving us fresh air and room to socially distance,” said Nashville Wine Auction CEO Holly Whaley. “Of course, our board and staff have been keeping an eye on this ever-changing situation since the pandemic began. We cancelled our biggest event earlier this year, l’Eté du Vin, but we had hopes that an outdoor event in October might still be a possibility. However, given the current situation surrounding this virus, we believe it is best for our supporters, organization and community as a whole, that we cancel the in-person event and replace it with an online version of our popular wine auction.”

After several meetings of the board of directors and the Music City Harvest Party committee, the board voted this week to cancel the in-person fundraiser and replace it with a live, online auction event. There will be additional supporting online fundraising initiatives before and after the main auction event.

“We had to get creative when planning these new, responsible and safe events to help our beloved Nashville Wine Auction continue to thrive and raise money for the local cancer-related nonprofit organizations who benefit from our grants,” said Music City Harvest Party Co-Chairs and Board Members Amy Atkinson and Lisa Maki. “While we will miss hosting the amazing party we had planned at Green Door Gourmet, we are starting to get pretty excited about making these online initiatives fun and successful!”

The main online event this fall will be The Virtual Nashville Wine Auction, and it will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020. The live streaming event will consist of both silent and live auctions featuring  premium wine and luxury lots. In addition to the always-popular auction lots, the event will have entertainment and educational components – a mix of celebrity guests, words from the nonprofit beneficiaries, special toasts, live music and more. But, the star of the show is always the wine. In addition, these many online initiatives will offer the Nashville Wine Auction’s dedicated sponsors the opportunity for increased exposure and access to thousands of Nashville Wine Auction supporters.

Additionally, a few supporting online initiatives and events will be conducted in the weeks and months before and after The Virtual Nashville Wine Auction. This will be a combination of online cocktail hours, small-scale dinner events, social media initiatives and other efforts that will be announced later. The goal of this series of supporting events is to continue to build on the comradery and relationships that exist amongst the Nashville Wine Auction wine-loving supporters, continue to invite first-time attendees to the organization’s events, and to raise money to help fight cancer.

“We are known for loving wine and hating cancer,” said Whaley. “Even during a pandemic, our mission to unite the wine community to fund the fight against cancer stays consistent. We just have to amend our traditional approach to raising money, and that is what we are committed to doing.”

Nashville Wine Auction Raises More Than $538k In First Virtual Fundraiser

Supporters Showed Up To Buy, Donate and Have Fun at the Virtual Nashville Wine Auction

NASHVILLE, TENN. –  OCT. 16, 2020 –Nashville Wine Auction, the country’s longest-running charity wine auction, did something brand new last weekend – it went “totally virtual” with the first-ever Virtual Nashville Wine Auction, replacing the previously planned, in-person fall fundraising event, the Music City Harvest Party.

The live-streaming event raised more than $538,000, which was almost twice as much as the event’s planning team had hoped. There was both a silent and live auction featuring premium wine and luxury experience lots. While the main event was the live auction, the online event included entertainment and educational components with a mix of celebrity guest greetings, messages from the nonprofit’s cancer-fighting beneficiaries, live music, live interaction with watch parties via Zoom, and the best combination of excitement, laughs and even a few tears. There were 496 people registered to participate in the auction. Of those, 100 of them were first-time participants/registrants. These registrants came from people viewing the event from 26 different states.

“The experience of creating this event was new to us, but thankfully, the wine community has proven to be as generous virtually as they are in person,” said Nashville Wine Auction CEO Holly Whaley. “Candidly, we weren’t sure what would happen when we went live, but we were thrilled to see that everyone showed up to buy and donate with such enthusiasm!”

Interestingly, this year, the silent auction lots went for about 20 percent more on average than usual, AND zero silent auction lots went unsold. However, while there were only three travel-oriented lots this year, they didn’t bring in as much money as usual, which was probably due to uncertainty regarding COVID-related travel concerns.

While scoring great wines for a wine collector’s cellar is an anticipated outcome of these auctions, that isn’t all that bidders purchase during these events. In fact, this year, gas card sales in the silent auction more than tripled. Each gas card is sold for $50 and is donated to our beneficiaries to help their patients in need who require gas to help them get to and from the hospital for their cancer treatments. This large increase reflects this community’s continued generosity and awareness of the cause.

While the “Raise Your Paddle” lot brought in more than $100,000, these auction lots brought in the significantly high bids as well: Once-In-A-Lifetime Evening with Château Figeac lot ($25,000), Super Huge Magnum Collection of Serious California Cabs ($18,000), Ann Eaden Collection of Favorites ($12,250), and the Vintage 2005, Another Monumental Tasting of Bordeaux Tasting lot ($5,000 a pour and 15 pours were sold).

“It was a great night for the Nashville Wine Auction and our beneficiaries supporting those dealing with a cancer diagnosis,” said Tom Baldwin, Chairman of the Nashville Wine Auction’s Board of Directors. “I’m so proud of all those who made the move to a virtual auction an incredible success. We had many Tennessee viewers plus over 25 other states represented! I am so grateful to be a part of this generous community.”
